Madeline, who has Down’s Sydrome, can be seen hand-in-hand with a handsome groom as she shows off several beautiful bridal gowns. The 18-year-old Australian model has caused a stir in the fashion world as she challenges the industry to review their perceptions on disability.
The photographs were taken at the Rixey Manor in Virginia, USA, and show Madeline dressed in several wedding dresses by Ava Laurenne Bridal wear with flowers by Good Earth Floral. Her auburn hair is delicately tied in an elegant knot styled with a veil. Isadora Martin-Dye, who owns Rixey Manor and organised the wedding photoshoot, told Metro.co.uk: ‘A lot of newly engaged women cannot see themselves as a bride because all the images magazines use are of these tall, thin models.
‘I think that being a bride is a life experience that every women should be able to see herself doing – and definitely not stressing about the fact that they won’t look “perfect” on their wedding day.’ Madeline shared the images on her Instagram page, where she has 119,000 followers, saying: ‘Just a photoshoot guys’. Dozens of her fans were quick to praise the pictures, calling Madeline not just a model but a ‘role model’.
‘I truly hope you know just how beautiful you are. Best wishes for a beautiful life,’ one person said. Madeline completely the shoot shortly after she starred on the runway at New York Fashion Week for a second time, receiving a standing ovation.
